Pure Joy

I'mm baaaaaack!

I've been absent for awhile.  But it seems that every week I run into someone who tells me they miss the blog.  So I'm going to give it another go.  May not be here every day.  We'll see what happens.

Yesterday I saw pure joy.  It was written all over the face of my granddaughter, Emily.  My dear, sweet wife and I got to watch Emily last weekend while her Mom and Dad traveled to a wedding.  Emily is an easy baby.  She has a schedule and keeps to it (what toddler does that?).  We usually only see her on Sunday so it was a great treat for Sherri and me to spend a good amount of extended time with her.

Her Mom and Dad got back from their trip late yesterday afternoon.  When Emily saw them her face lit up like Times Square.  She laughed.  She shrieked.  Hugs and kisses were given aplenty.  We thought she'd been pretty happy with us.  But I saw pure, unbridled joy in Emily.

Speaking of pure joy, baseball season began yesterday and today my favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals begin with an away date in Cincinnati.  The Cardinals made it to the World Series last year, only to get destroyed by Boston.  The Cards have made some changes in their position players but bring back one of the best groups of pitchers in baseball.

So I'm pretty excited to be able to watch St. Louis' opening game.  Pure joy! Unless they lose! And then Sherri will need to hide all the sharp objects in the house!
