Putting two and two together

In preparing a Bible study yesterday I came across something the apostle James wrote in chapter five of his Epistle.  The last part of verse 16 is translated in the ESV as: "The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it it working."

Now we know that only God has the power to heal and to save.  What then makes our prayers so powerful?

Jesus explains it in John 9:31: "If anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, God listens to him."

So, our prayers make a difference.  God gives us His undivided attention as we offer our petitions.  He considers our requests.  He does what is best for each one of us.

Pray, my friends.  Make your requests to God.  Pray "not my will but Your will, O Lord, be done." Trust that the God who gave you a Savior will also give you the time of day and more as you open your heart to Him.
